Well, that was fun, as I write this I am on day 900 of not having a drink, when Tim at Fell Brewery first got in touch it was a great conversation, I had been recommended to them by quite a few people so was really chuffed to sit and have a chat, explain where I was with beer and hear about their plans for the brand.

Now - I am not anti-beer, I used to really, really, really like beer and of course Fell brewery beers, I am sure I still would but wanted to be sure that before starting work that we were aligned and me not drinking alcohol wouldn't be an issue.

Of course it wasn't an issue at all and the passion these guys have around the brewing process, sustainability, local area, customers and staff just makes me smile - what a fantastic company!

Plans were made, weather was ordered and locations to fit into the creative were scouted - all worked perfectly, well except for one night of monsoons!

Loads more to do to complete the project but it is live and looking great!

Nicola the web designer and Watson from Fell have done a cracking job, its great when you see images used and looking like everyone visualised in the concept meetings!

Blue Mind Men was started by Gilly McArthur and Johnnie Cowie to address the growing need for a mens group of cold water swimmers and dippers in the Lake District. Blue Mind Men is a peer supported swim club for men, dipping for mental health. Many great groups exist for female swimmers and dippers but little provision for men. Cold water exposure is great for maintaining good mental health.

Blue Mind Men had the first meet, at Rayrigg Meadows on the 31st January 2022, a cold, frosty morning with and air temperature of -3.5° 🥶

Numbers have steadily grown and there is consistently around 30 men and friends joining on a Sunday morning. 

Blue Mind Men were invited to have a 30 minute segment on the Cotswold Outdoor Adventure Stage at the Kendal Mountain Festival 2022, prime time Saturday afternoon slot!

I was part of the team ( Ian Wood) made up of Tony Ward, Charlie Woodburn and James Booker, with presenter and host Rachael Crewesmith.

It was a fantastic 30 mins, such positivity from the BMM and was really well received by the huge audience with many Blue Mind Men coming to support and chat with the Cold Curious - what a buzz!

Always fun working with the guys at Lakeland Leather, they normally have an in-house employed photographer but were still recruiting so I stepped in to shoot the Autumn/Winter 2020 campaign, we waited as long as we could so Autumn was starting to show, it was very much still Summer though!

A fabulous day with great crew, kore importantly, great results!

Finally catching up on some blogging, this shoot was actually in August 2020, we used the magnificent private gardens at Graythwaite Hall and then also, Grubbin's Point on the Graythwaite Estate.

Jak is a great guy and we were joined on this shoot by Aimee, working on the make-up and her incredible attention to detail. Ben from HDDN media came under the Wood & Co umbrella to do the video.

A belting shoot, fast paced, with great results.

Interesting fact (that isn't interesting) Jak and Ben jumped in the Lake when we wrapped, I went in to just below my waist, hated it, got out and regretted it and my hatred of cold water, that begun my journey to actually loving cold water starting January 2022.

Ahh, Summer in the Lake District, this was a fantastic shoot at Silverholme Manor, brief was to shoot promotional images for Graythwaite Estate and Graythwaite Adventure, using 'bubbled' models supplied by the client.

Silverholme Manor is a truly beautiful Georgian Manor house on the Western Shores of Windermere, in the Lake District.

Activities included paddle boarding, clay pigeon shooting, lakeshore picnic, bushcraft and a bit of waterskiing. Blessed with incredible weather it was a fantastic day.

Covid restrictions made us think about how shots could be achieved but use of angles and lens compression and perspective we reached our goals.

Images used to market the location for the 2021 season and beyond, alongside existing assets, they have been used across printed media, social media platforms and websites, as well as email marketing campaigns. 

Ewe would be baaaaamy not to love the recently launched Herdy clothing range. Wood & Co, met at Herdy HQ in Kendal to discuss the feel of the shoot, models and deliverables. I knew straight away the family that fitted the bill, you may recognise Aimee as she is the make-up-artist we use on commercial shoots and has appeared on a few 'BTS' posts!

Her family were perfect and lapped up the challenge, a fab couple of days, a delighted client, shot and delivered on a tight deadline ready to have all assets in place for launch day!

Ian followed up with a visit back to Herdy HQ in Kendal with young Fred who is a massive fan, he was blown away with actually being in 'Herdy's House' and of course came away with some magnificent Herdy 'merch' - I assume YouTube has taught him that!
